plug in chip? has it got FRST management?

if you replace your std actuator with a -31 and set it to half hole preload etc. the car will overboost and keep cutting th ignition on you.

if you bypassed the amal valve and ran a hose straight from the compressor housing to the turbo you would eliminate this problem. but the ecu would have NO control over the boost whatsoever.

why do you want to fit a -31 to a std un-chipped engine? are you aware that it is NOT a power increasing device in any way, and is simply an actuator with a stronger spring in it, all it allows you to do is run more boost, if this extra boost is not allowed by the limitations of the ECU or the engine, it will NOT run properly (and could quite easily blow up... lol)

its all still s2 erst engine management, the actuator on it will only let it boost at 4psi and hold 3psi,its got a bleed valve on it which was fitted when i bought the car and it boosts at 9psi with that set how it was when i bought it,the chip has got writing on it but nobody seems to know what its for

plug in chip for an ERST sounds odd...

as for that boost youre seeing, it sounds about right with a std actuator if you were to fit the -31 i'd expect you to see about 7psi with the bleed valve fully closed and upto about 20ish psi when you really start to open it up...

you can only hit 9psi on a non-chipped ECU by the way hence why i say keep the std one...

also i assumed you were using an amal valve, since this isnt as easily adjustable as a bleed valve i tried to simplify things a little (just before sum1 starts picking holes in what i said earlier )

the chip has got lcs3 9205 written on it which i havnt got a clue what its for, what should a standard erst boost at then,i was told 6 psi, what would happen if it boosted over 9psi on a standard chip then, would it cut the ignition or run the risk of blowing up

so in theory if it went above that it would mean its a non standard chip but then i dont know the limitations of the chip thats in the car,the car has got the usual exhaust and k&n filter and its supposed to have about Ł800s worth of power engineering head aswell but not certain unless i take the head off

well thats one way of testing it...

i once used this method (ie turn boost up to see if ignition cut kicks in)

i melted my engine
