hi guys, im replacing the faces on the counters as my ggr ones have faded from
white to a poo brown colour...yuk....ive got them out the dash and the white plastic housing but not to sure how the needles come of the little shaft conected to the
motor drive thingee to finaly peal of the old face.

any help much appreciated cheers......

 

they just pull off. just make sure you put them back on at the same angle.

 

DON'T under ANY circumstances take the needles off.
They are counterweighted, by a hair spring and will ner read right again if you do.

well it looks like they have already been off tab, the oe ones have been replaced with white
faces from ggr...........is there some other way to get the faces off without removing the needle???

It is ok to take the FACES off but NOT the NEEDLES.
It is a bit fiddly but you can bend the dial face gently between your thumb and finger and slide it under the needle, so not having to disturb them.

Would taking the needles off cause the clock to read say 30 mph when your doing 60? If this is the case how can it be corrected as the RS I'm buying tomorrow has some serious speedo issues..

Yes can be corrected, may be cheaper to get another clock set though, recalibration is likely to be £50-£70!!
Can be done DIY though, but so long winded without decent speed control.
All the speedo does is react to the magnetic influence caused by the spinning magnets inside the drum, on speedo head, the drum is attached to the needle, the cable input to the magnets, owing to the direction of spin of the magnets the drum tries to turn the same way, but is held back by the spring(this is also a counterweight for the needle weight), the faster the spin the more it moves/and so the needle reads higher.
So to get it reading higher, you can get a north south magnet(neg and pos), and brush the north side against the drum, this will magnetise it a bit more, so it reads a bit more, if you go to far by brushing the south(neg) side it will take away a bit(de-magnetise).
Easy when you have the kit, but another clock set is a lot less hassle.
