Unhappy blue smoke

my car was smoking a bit so changed the valve seals which did look shot when I was removing them. I havent driven it since I changed them but started it today getting it ready for mot tomoz and started to smoke when it warmed up.

Could this be excess oil burning off from when I changed the seals and will it go away when I drive it for a few miles? Could they not be seated properly? Havent got a clue.

No oil in the boost hoses and did a compression test a while ago when it first started to smoke and everythink was ok.

Any thoughts appreciated, cheers

Could be a number of things but i would also check the turbo as it could be leaking oil on the exhaust side only.

check for play in the shaft of the turbo mate, i had a similar problem as you, i changed my stem seals and it still happened, mine was very badly smoking aswell, turned out to be the turbo in the end.

Talking

Think I sorted it.
Had a look at turbo and looked ok then I checked the oil level and it didn't show on the stick although the oil light didn't come on and sounded fine earlier.

Topped it up and didn't smoke lol
Now looking for oil leak or it might of used it all before I took it off the road when it was smoking.

cheers

sounds even worst then, if it was a normal oil leak from a gasket of seal then youll just see a puddle of oil but no burning of said oil, if youve had blue smoke then its burning it from somewhere and the fact your engine was empty isnt good news, the oils had to of gone somewhere !!!!????!!!!.

when mine smoked it was only when i left it over night and itll only appear after about 10mins when warm, as i said it turned out to be the turbo so i assume oil was bypassing the oil seals etc inside which caused it to burn off.......i reckon you should give it a few over night start ups before assuming alls ok mate coz as said before, oil doesnt just disappear for no reason bud.

oil in boost hoses is most definately turbo oil seals gone.

I have to keep an eye on mine.

One of my old escorts done something I still can't figure out.
It was a normal 1.6cvh and I was thrashing it along a straight and the next thing I know the oil light comes on and the engine rattles like fuck. Didn't see any smoke or hear anything happen.
Limped it to petrol station, let her cool and checked dip stick and no oil. Filled it up with oil again then it was fine and never lost a drop the rest of its life.

some things just happen with cars and they fix themselves lol
