Standard Radio Cassette / CD Wiring Details?
Hello, I'd like to remove the standard Ford Radio Cassette / CD set up and fit an aftermarket head unit. I don't want to start chopping the Ford plugs off, so I can revert back to standard at a later date. I bought an Autoleads PC2 - 08 -4 adaptor set, but it doesn't fully tally up with what's in the loom. Can someone tell me which cables do what, ie power and speakers, and is there a full correct adaptor kit available? Any photo's would be helpful too.
Cheers, Gez

From memory the speaker cabling goes to an amp that sits behind the glove box. You should be able to see it from the foot well. I cut the Ford connector off & wired the new head unit to that. You just need to use the power etc that went to the old Ford Stereo.
I kept the old Ford connector so that I could rewire it if I wanted to put it back in. Any good Car Stereo shop should be able to give you what you need so you don't have to chop it about.

You should just be able to get a iso adaptor. It will be the same as any standard escort and fiesta ecs. Halfords sell them. Then that just plugs into your existing wiring and then to the headunit. No need for chopping then.
for a start, if you wish to keep everything as it is and change to an aftermarket headunit, you will need a specific ISO connector, that connects up the standard amp unit aswell as the aftermarket headunit.
The power iso is the same as any normal, but the speaker iso connector is different.
The ISO connector needed is aroun £30-£40, any audio shop will know or be able look this up, but you have to be specific by telling them its for an escort cossie.
I have put my lead somewhere as i have reverted to chopping out the standard AMP as it packed up. ( I will post a pic later of it to show you what it looks like)
