Default cometic headgaskets - zetec black top discussion + advice

right i have been having a look for gaskets on ebay and came across someone selling cometic gaskets, now normally i would think that a gasket would be for one bore size only with a little room to play for a slight overbore / honing for new rings...

The link below is where i saw them

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-0-Zetec-Blac...QQcmdZViewItem

Now it states it is suitable for every bore size upto 87mm, given the std bore size is aprox 84.7 mm thats a 2.3mm difference in the bore and the gasket fire rings.

Surely from this it would cause some problems? or is this completely suitable?

What would a gasket like this fair up to in a zetec turbo engine? or is the std ford MLS item better suited as i can get a cometic shipped over from the us for approx £37.50 plus shipping.

If it makes any difference i am fitting ARP head studs to the ZT i am building.

Don't bother just use the standard 0.5 mm ford gasket. £24 from your local dealership.

That is unless you need a thicker one?

well the pistons i am getting from the us are a C/R of 9.0:1 which is a little higher than i had hoped, read the wrong thing and then ordered from a different place so if the cometics are slightly thicker then that would aid the C/R a little as just under 9:1 would be bit better and more room for error so to speak.

A standard Focus ST170 headgasket is 1mm thick.

Used them on my ZT.
