Changing careers?
Right, working in a bank now, same thing for four years now - can't see myself going anywhere in the job.
It's OK, but boring, same thing day in day out, customer facing, fake smile, sell sell sell shit I don't believe in, so I want to get out.
I've been offered another job which sounds great, just what I want, working away, in contruction, money is far far better, fresh start, new change, but could only be working until october, but chances are I won't.
What would you do? The new place has everything I want, not as secure as working in a bank, but I like take the odd risk.

DO IT!!!!!!
I changed jobs yesterday (left old job last thursday)...... I'm now a trainee diamond driller (amongst about 10 other things).
Moneys isn't great ATM but once fully trained up I'll be earning a potential double what I was earning in the automotive trade...

I did it just over 2 years ago. I spent almost 10 years DJing in clubs and pubs but once my little boy was born it wasn't really a job I could do and still spend my weekends enjoying my family life. Plus being self employed in such a fickle industry it wasn't going to last forever!! I'm now driving HGVs and love it. Best move I ever made changing direction.

Best time to do it especially when you've got an opportunity like that to get a foot in the door. I've stuck with what I started out in and got comfy. Can be hard to make a change once you get older.

Dan, at 21 I was working in a carpet shop - dead end, then me and a mate set up a design business, 10 years on and we rund a great little business and love it.
My brother on the other hand has been working for peugeot for 6-7 years - dead end and knows it, yet too scared to change jobs, he is on about 15-17k and is 34!!!
You live once, and hopefully your not to committed in in terms of kids and mortgage, if not, then nothing to loose everything to gain. If nothing else it will:
a) give you a better idea of what kind of work you want to do
b) show you how easy a career change can be
c) break you out of the comfort zone
leaving you with the option to turn you hand to anything you choose rather than fearing the unknown.
Best of luck mate

With that in mind you've absolutely nothing to stop you doing it.
Kinda think by the tone of your post that you've made your mind up - just need a bit of reassurance.
Reckon everyone that will post in this thread will tell you to go for it!

Nah, stick with the bank mate......................only kidding! go for it! i'm 28, got a house, Mrs but no kids and i'm seriously thinking about changing career and going back to colleage to re-study
Yeah I have pretty much made my mind up, but like you say just need a bit of reassurance.
It's a quick turn around anyway - but I've been considering leaving for a new career for a while now.
