Im currently doing a garage resto (pics to follow )

my cousin got a new kitchen so i took all his old stuff to stick in mine but tbh it looks shite. my garage is really nice with platser lined walls, painted, skirtings and carpet dont slag, its good to give my cossie and a friends a good loving home

Anyway where for good cheap units? Ideally floor cabinets maybe 2-3 up to 1m each wide.

When my cousins kitchen went in the fucked the cutting and ruined a 2m piece of brand new worktop so i got it on top of that i have offcuts which could stretch me near 3m. i just need base units to pop the surface on top of. NOTHING fancy in plain white is fine!

We got the ones for our workshop from B&Q. You can go down there and get the carcasses and doors all from stock, every format of unit you could ever want. They used to do a B&Q 'Value' range, which I don't think they do anymore, but their normal range is still very reasonable.

 

Wickes seem to be quite cheap on basic kitchen units

ikea for cheap? only problem with them is they havnt grasped designing them, they have no over hange on the rear for scribing around pipes etc so need to fit another back further forward, but im guessing they are cheap as chips as they are flat pack too

 

Aye, it's smashed up and been rained and snowed on for a few weeks now! It's in the bondee pile!
If it's fine this weekend, it will be a pile of smoldering ashes by Monday!

I donno who else is doing a resto job in their kitchen right now, but will keep my eyes peeled. No point splashing out Ł600 for kitchen cupboards! If your keen, you can easily buy the seprate units from SF and get crappy doors.

 

Can you not make your own?

 

Do you not have a Howdens near you as they are great value, however not to sure about units for garage's, but they might have a bargain range.

Or if any of your mates are joiners, see if they're removing a kitchen soon!

 

make you own. just buy some lengths of 4x2 and either some 1/2" ply or even chip board flooing, and rip off the toung and groove.
you could use the worktops given to you, but theyre not ideal surfaces as they are slippery, and fradgile, ie if mounting a vice etc. anyway lightly damaged worktops go for Ł50-60 per 3m length, so theyre not worth saving just for a workshop, where they will be impracticle anyway.

kitchen units seem a neat tidy idea, but theyre crap, and will fall apart as soon as you go to get the 1st spanner

dont worry about been a saddo! my workshops got oak beams, well thery were there alreadybut its, plasterd, painted, carpeted, i even have a sink, kettle and toaster, office chair and a hifi! and carpet in the pit as well!

 

ikea do some in a stainless steel finish that would look proper bo in a garage

as said, traditional laminated chipboard worktop is shit in a garage - you want solid block wood

its different already because its all carpeted nice my pool table is moved over to the right and the 3 door is hard over to the left. my motorbike sits sideways behind the 3 door. im gonna be putting units down the rhs. i even have framed pics on the wall of my rst
I have a spare 17" lcd tv thats going in on the back wall too just because i can got a splitter box in loft with spare outputs so gonna run down outside house from the loft

its not that hard, my misses has stolen the camera today, so i only have some crap shots. bench is simply 4x2" with 3/4" ply, rock solid, and soooo easy to build.
