Default will a alloy radiator keep my car cooler ?

hve a full width airtec intercooler with twin fans at the mo wit standard rad,it runs round the town rather hot, just under 3/4 on temp gauge9thats with twin fans on) the standard radiator does not sit flush with the cooler but i herd that alloy ones bolt onto th cooler ? will this cool the rad down more ?

yes and no,it will keep your temps cooler but once its warm it will take longer to disperse the heat
if youve probs with temps then an alloy rad is not the solution, look elsewhere in the coolin system

on a s2 you could get rid of your watercooling of the turbo, that is really going to drop temps! S1 has no watercooling on the turbo, so is possible

Last year I was running a Pace ali rad, my cooling was close to the limit. But wear and tear on the rad meant I had to replace it.
This year I have a new GRS ali rad and the cooling is superb.

Conclusion - a fresh, clean uncontaminated rad will improve the cooling no end.

Also if you remove the water cooling from the turbo it means that a lot of heat will be passed into the oil system.

The S1 was designed to run without water cooling to the turbo, while the S2 was designed with it.

I haven't seen clear evidence of an Alloy rad cooling better than a new standard one.

Also as C&B says a good standard copper rad is more efficiant than a good ali one due to the ability of copper to transfer heat better than ali. Ali ones are stronger than copper ones.

Simon - the copper may conduct better, but what about the brazing

anyway, as i said before - it will improve things, simply because your existing rad will be shitted up nicely.

I ran my car last year with a non-turbo bonnet (i.e. no vents) and still had no issues with temps.

Brand new good quality OE rad, or a recore is what I suggest.
