Default Norton 360 and home networking

I upgraded from Norton 2007 to 360 last week and now I've lost a printer and can't find it to get it to reconnect. Email sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. System restore failed so i can't revert to where I was before, and I've discovered that the two laptops are on a network called MS HOME while the MAC G5 is on WORKGROUP, while the desktop machine at the heart of it all doesn't want to tell me anything! It won't even run Live Update and keeps saying look back in two weeks for a Hotfix.

I'm officially pissed off.

Is there a simple instruction anywhere for how to fix networks and how to set up an old Laserjet 4+ printer for network printing, that doesn't assume too much technical knowledge?
