Default mk 4 escort 1.3; engine conversions?

Hello, sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section, (move it if it is), but I am interested to find out a few facts on engine conversions. You see, at current, I have a mk4 escort 1.3 pushrod, which is a good daily run about. However, I have always liked the idea of a sleeper and so forth, am thinking in the future of doing a potential conversion into it; my question is however, what ford engines will go into the mounts with no problems and another question, if my car is carb, is it possible that an injection engine will go in no probs? I was thinking a 1.8 or even 2.0 litre zetec would be nice. I'm sure it can easily as I have seen many a zetec in fiestas in fast ford but just for my own clarrification really. Lastly, what sort of things, with regards to brakes, will go straight on my hubs as my current ones are attrocious and only just handle my current power. What am I going to need to do the conversion apart from the engine (in the way of compoents such as ecu, etc); Will alot of loom chopping be required? Cheers.

im in the middle of a conversion myself on my 1.3 mk4 bonus...

a 1.6 cvh carbed engine will go straight in on the same mounts..

1.8 zetec (what im going for i think) goes straight in but needs the rear engine mount (i think) modding a little bit..

you can change to injection, but you will need the injection tank etc etc..

about the brakes...you can change to rs turbo brakes which will go straight onto the standard hubs....

or cosworth brakes..which i picked up last night and will be fitting the weekend!

cheers very much, very tempted by zetec but I can see 1.6 being the more likely option. Brakes are a must tho, even on my current engine, thanks!

so another question springs to mind; which driveshafts would I use? Is there such a thing as a conversion kit for these like they do with the vauxhall corsas when they put in 2.0 litre engines?

Anything that fits in a RS Turbo will fit in yours!
CVH/ZVH/Zetec, injection or carbed...... just a case of mixing parts and using the odd modified component.

The shafts are the same on all 80s escorts.
