It's all bollocks mate. My mum's a teacher and they recycle at school, teaching the kids etc. But you know what happens to the bins ? They get sent to India and dumped. Mum did some digging and found out, as it's too expensive to recycle.
I am already paying for commercial waste recycling disposal at work so the charge is twice +vat as well .should i place the 3 old bulbs carefully in my car and drive them back to CEF to dispose of

Like you most people probably wouldn't object to payiong a token recycling charge but it won't be a 'token' and they ain't doing what they're supposed to be.
Another way of shafting the general public.

a very clever tax indeed one of thousands of stealth taxes
the reality is if mr and mrs average earn 40k have 2.2 children the tax man gets 80% of the 40k in direct taxes and stealth taxes about time panorama did a programme on this

can't say i'm surprised at that 80% figure... although i'm a little bemused as to why charge vat on somehting that's supposedly a green tax for the environment. (other than the obvious revenue generation!)

you take them to the wholesaler, drop them in, then drive off. The reason you pay the fee on new lamps is so you have already paid for the deposal once they are used.
Your not supposed to put fluorscent tubes in your bin they contain mercury, your local tip will take them for free aswell.

Basically they are screwing it for as much money as they can get.
Think of the environmental chaos you will cause buy burning fossil fuels in your car/van going back to the wholesalers.
