Question Mark 1 escort front wings

Is there a difference between the front end of the cars & the vans? I would have thought that all of the front end panels were the same

Thanks

wings and panels are the same i believe. there was a crossover at some point but i think it was re the rear lights being the same on mk2s as mk1s. not too up on vans to be honest so don't take this as gospel!

might only be a minor thing such as holes for old skool wing mirrors when they really were wing mirrors not door mirrors

mk2 vans and estates have a mk2 saloon front end, but kept the mk1 rear

Thanks guys, that confirms what I thought. God knows why this new wing won't fit, my mate thought it was because it was a van one, I haven't seen it yet but he says it's totally different

The Mk2 van and estate had a one off front wing that was not fitted to anything else as the back part of the shell was still MK1 and the wings had to matck the Mk1 swage line.

Is your mate sure he has Mk1 and not Mk1.5 wings ??

No idea His car is a very early one (f plate) and this is the wing he's bought http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN:IT&ih=005

Aparently it's different where it meets the front panel and along the top rail

Somehow I missed this reply My mate came round this morning with the new wing and old one he cut off and we've come to the same conclusion

You can see that the rear corner is a different shape, the wing is narrower across the top and the arch is different

The Mk 1 van wings will fit a saloon but need some work. Your old wing looks strange though. An F reg Mk1 is a slightly different shell to the later ones but you wings should still fit.
