Will it do any harm to the engine having it disconnected. Im on trying to find what is causing a fault on my car when its cold so i have had the iscv disconnected this morning to try and elimanate that. I noticed the the idle was a bit lower this morning on the way to work at junctions. Then when i came home it was idling higher. Is this a faulty throttle switch or is this normal.
Once the car is warmed up, the car should be idling on it's base setting, about 850/900rpm acheived with the screw on the underside of the throttle housing, with ISCV disconnected, lights etc OFF, then when you reconnect the iscv the revs raise a few seconds then go to base setting.
The iscv is to raise the revs at idle when loads such as lights etc are applied(alternator drag).
No it will do no harm not having it connected you just lose the fast idle facility.

I started my cossie up from cold this morning. The ISCV was still disconnected and the idle was really low. So i plugged the ISCV back in and the revs were going up and down for a few seconds then it sorted itself out. I took the ISCV out used brake cleaner to clean it and used service lube and lubricated. I refitted the ISCV and the revs were still Going up n down. Could this be a faulty ISCV.

I know it is running rich cause i took it to a bloke how deals with proformance cars and he has an escort cossie rally car. He set the co mixture (on the side of the ecu). Last year for the mot i had to turn the mixture down to get it though the mot then i put it back to where it was. Is it ok for the engine to be running rich or would you recommend setting the fuel mixture to where it should be,normal.

It needs sorting out by someone who knows what they are doing.
It is complete crap that they need adjusting down for MOT's then adjusting back, if running correctly they will fly through the MOT, the only downside they have is the antique of an ecu!!

Im want my car setting up later on in the year cause im getting bloody married so i need all the money i can get. I work in a garage so do you think i should get the CO mixture set back to where it is. Im a bit pissed off with that so called bloke who works on proformance cars. At the end of the day i dont wanna damage my car/engine. I must admit when im driving the car there is bits of black soot on the back bumper and lights.

Sorry i should of said. My car has a stage 2 chip running green injectors. Its got a dyno graph from a few years ago and it had 300 bhp. I couldnt tell you what chip it is though. It might sound awful but i carnt wait till the wedding is over so that we can stop stressing, and the most important one is im gonna spend some money on my cossie. I want it setting up eventually.

ROG i changed that over a year ago. Ive asked this question about the co mixture on my car a few times and i carnt seem to get a good answer. If its chipped will it be ok if the engine is running rich? Should i just get it set to where it should be. I can soon put it on the emissions tester at work. I just wanna look after my engine/car.
The reason you can't get a straight answer is because it depends on who mapped the chip, as to what CO should be, just take it to a RR after setting to 2.5%, as I said this is a genarally used figure.
IMO this is tupidly and unecessarily rich, but shows the limitations of the crap ecu's these use, hence why I just bought a emerald ecu.
