Any rust is proper rust. If it doesn't look serious now, it will do! Rust is like a virus, once its in there, you're fucked.

Yes i know and the car is going to a bodyshop at the end of the year for work, but for now i just wanted to do something with it.

got to cut bad rot out. but surace rust can be removed if only surface with aflap disc. You remove a bit of metal with it but only minimal if it is only surface rust. If it is penetrating thr metal then ylu can always spot blast the area!

As said, the ONLY way to cure rust is to chop out the metal and replace it. If you want to slow it down then `Kurust` or similar will help
