They are all interchangable i.e. the clutch sits in the same place but weights differ by a large margin.

Depends which model 4x4, there are three 4x4 flywheels!! But 2wd is the best bet..

Hi,

2wd flywheel is 8,5 kg (18,8 lb)
4 wd flywheel is 11,5 kg (25,5 lb)
(if my conversion is right !!!!)

Regards

Claude

So what is the logic of the heavier flywheel in the 4x4 out of interest?

Sounds plausible I guess. I wondered if it was anything to do with the gear change becuase of the additional 'drag' caused by the 4x4 system effectively trying to slow the engine down on engagement (ie to reduce possibility of stall)?

would be plausible, so a better torque figure could be achieved if used

Hi,

Another reason, given by Ford, is heavier flywheel avoid gear box clatter, that it can exist with 4x4 MT75 gear box..

Regards.
