XR2i Jerking at low speed
Posting on behalf of a mates bird.
She has recently bought an XR2i (1989)
And its jerking at low speed on deceleration at around 30-35mph
Any thoughts ?

my FRST used to do shit like that, it turned out to be the pump pressure was low ( fucked pump) have you tried the norm, change plugs and leads? you may have a split lead. try cleaning out the idle control vavle ( on the side of the EFI unit or if early modle on the air box) or could be simple vac pipe split.
This was the symptoms we had on Rachels 2i mate. After a company diagnosed the fuel pump and charged us Ł500 to sort it the problem was still there
. A breakout box was added between the ECU and loom and once the ECU wiring had been disturbed the fault never re apppeared

In most common order:
1) Throttle position sensor.
2) Base Co too low.
3) Plugs gapped too small (<1mm)
However, if this is teh jerking at low rpm when you try and maintain a very low speed its possibly a "Feature" of teh car and it needs chipping to remove the overun fuel shutoff.

i have the same problem on mine frst engine and its just been greatly improved by reducing plug gap to 0.65mm
dont know why but its stopped misfiring.

Thanks for all the pointers, should give my mate something to be going on with.
Its all a bit modern for him, he's used to Points, Condensors and the such... still living in the 60's
