Default 1.6 S CAPRI RESTO - Kinda complete for now UPDATE!

THE WORK HAS FINALLY BEGUN

I GOT THE CAR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO FOR £250. BIT OF A BARGAIN I THINK.

IT HAS 34,000 ON IT SINCE NEW IN 1981. RED AND BROWN 'BURBERRY' INTERIOR. WELL STANDARD LIKE.

SINCE THESE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN IT HAS HAD A NEW BLACK GRILLE INSTEAD OF THE SHITTY SILVER BEAST THAT'S ON IT. A SET OF RS 4 SPOKES ARE AWAY BEING PAINTED GLOSS BLACK AND DIAMOND CUT.

I HAVE ALSO FITTED AN ALPINE HEAD UNIT AND SOME ALPINE 6X9'S.

I'M GOING FOR A 2" DROP ALL ROUND AND GETTING THE WINDOWS TINTED.

EVENTUALLY A 2L BURTON PINTO IS GOING IN IT BUT I DUNNO WHEN YET.

AT THE MOMENT THERE IS A NEW ARCH ON THE CAR WAITING TO BE PAINTED. I'M TAKING IT OFF THE ROAD FOR THE WINTER SO IF ANYONE HAS A BIN THEY WOULD LIKE TO SELL FOR THE WINTER, GIVE ME A SHOUT.

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

CHEERS

Capri's are becoming a mega classic car believe it or not,

They are quite a few big car collectors after mint versions of the capri as they will fetch a few quid in a few years time.

Also for the driving experience of the capri

restore it and keep the trim it will protect the investment, the car is worth far more with the period trim especally if its a genuine milage car as clean as that one looks.

I'm actually getting the two front seats out of a very early 2.8 cos they match the back but the bolster's are deeper and they're recaro's.

I say £250 but in actual fact i got the car for free cos my mum bought me the car as a present. She just came home one day and said " are you still obsessed with shitty old fords?" i rightly answered yes. and she bought me the capri.

TOOLE. LEG-FUCKING-END. I spoke to Eck this weekend, i'm just finalising a date in January for Ashley to go and get painted. Gimme a shout as soon as you're free.
Good to hear from you man, not seen you or Toole jnr for a while.

I'm considering running Ashley with two sets of wheels, the four spoke rs ones for club shows and ford fair etc. and 17 inch diamond cut rs 7 spokes for daily use.

Thoughts please.

Cheers for the comments guys more pictures soon i promise.

I'm keeping her silver with the black flash.

Get another capri.

If you are willing to spend £1500 i can get you a series X with a 3 litre essex engine, 7.5 X 13 x paxk rims, bown check recaros with fishnets, very nearly completed and i mean very nearly completed.

the car belongs to my cousin and i nearly bought it myself but you know how it is i don't have space.

let me know if you're interested.

oh my fucking god.

where was the pic of the black one taken and do you know where it is now??

the best way to get bits is just to read classic ford and do a bit of networking.

once you know a few people and a few people know about your car, parts just seem to find you.

Why a old pinto or essex v6? Do you know how much those essex motos weigh

For the money you will spend on a Burtons Pinto to get 160 bhp you could easily buy a 2ltr zetec (£200), some bike throttle bodies (£100) and a SECS ecu (£500?) and end up with a much more modern and responsive engine making 180bhp

If you do a bit of digging on the net you will find that the zetec can be easily made to bolt up with a type 9 using Ford parts

the reason i'm not going anywhere near modern engines is that it's not a modern car.

it's not that hard to put a YB or a 24v cossie engine in but they're not meant for the car.

couldn't possibly agree more.

by the way, an essex engine is 160 bhp as standard anyway so a zetec is a rubbish idea.

You are living in a dreamworld mate!

A stock essex engine is just over 130 bhp. You might be confusing it with a later cologne engine, but even they were only rated at 150 bhp.

Think you need to do a little more home work!
