Default Use what to clean oil breather?

just wondered what the best product to use is to clean up the insides of a spec-r alloy oil breather?

is petrol the best or some form of degunk, but obviously cant get in there to wash it out so leave it in petrol?

I used brake cleaner to do mine, took a while as i filled it up and let soak for a while then emptied it and filled it again, kept doing this until it was coming out clean, took a few goes though.
