Default Ebay to ban sellers leaving negative feedback

Saw this on the news last night, and just found the article on the BBC news website.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7228460.stm

Another nail in, what is an almost perfectly sealed, cofin for Ebay - How are people going to know when buyers are dishonest, not paying and the like if a seller cannot leave a true representation of the transaction via the medium of feedback?

I think its time I stopped selling on there - all it takes is one wanker to blemish a perfect feedback and you cannot retaliate or sort it

"If a buyer doesn't pay, the seller can easily contact eBay, we will review any complaint and maybe remove the buyer," a spokesman said.
That says it all... You can't ever get a reply from eBay... And IF you do, they do fuk all anyway

fukkin Joke

Maybe it'll be like getting a reference from your last place of work. They are not allowed to give you a negative one, but can decline to give one. That in itself may say something.

How?
I have been a member since 2001, have about 140 feedback rating which is 100% perfect.
Are people now meant to think "hmmm hes not got any bad feedback, maybe he didnt pay for something but the seller didnt leave any"?

1000+ feedbacks with no problems but will be watching buyers carefully from May.

Use http://www.toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs as they will be using a "false positive" which most sellers are going to do.

eBay has indicated that in May, 2008, sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers. The merits of this will probably be debated for a very, very long time, but in the meantime, some sellers have suggested that they would leave "false positive" (FP) feedback. Specifically, they would leave positive feedback containing the word "negative" or "neg", as an indication of the type of feedback they wanted to leave.

Toolhaus will endeavor to remain neutral on the merits of that tactic, but we've added a new option to the Negs tool: A checkbox to enable searching for "false positive" feedback, and reporting the total number of those items found. The report is at the end of the Negs tool's output, with the counts of Negative, Neutral, and Withdrawn feedback items.

I think it's right.

If a seller pisses me around, I'm scared to leave a neg because he'll do the same, even if I was 100% right.

If a buyer doesn't pay, you've only lost fee's and the hassle - not the item, so it's sellers people need to be warned about moreso than buyers.

how wrong

what if the buyer pisses about, or fails to read the advert properly, it takes time to create the ad`s etc etc and sellers have to wait before funds are credited, a bit of an unfair comment

how would anyone reading somebodies feedback know if any auctions they'd been involved in hadnt received a feedback?

for example, i've got 170 positives, and probably have had 50 ebay transactions where i've bought stuff on "buy it now", paid instantly, and the seller has left no feedback through laziness.

i agree with ranj

but i did think that if a seller leaves neg for a buyer that if the buyer leaves neg in retaliation it didnt count on your score?!?! or is that only on unpaid items or disputes etc?

I bought an item, it arrived and was different from the one pictured in the auction.
I left NEUTRAL feedback stating I was happy with the item, but it was different.
I had paid instantly after clicking buy it now.

To me, the seller should of left me feedback before it was even sent, saying I had paid quickly, but no, as usual they now hold back so if you leave them negative, they will leave it back.

Surprise surprise, he saw my NEUTRAL feedback (which said I was happy remember!) and then left me NEGATIVE feedback stating I should of looked at the pictures?! I fucking did, and it wasnt what I was sent!!

For the main of it, the ENTIRE feedback system is majorly flawed, and no matter changes are made, Im sure idiots will still abuse it somehow

Unfortunatly for him, he had given his msn address on the auction for a means of contact, so I added him, gave him a torrent of abuse as to his stupid knee jerk reaction, and he retracted it

buyers either pay or they dont, and its done either in time or not - its pretty black and white! if an item is paid for using paypal then why does ebay not leave the buyer positive feedback for paying for it how and when they were asked?

IMHO, most of the time that translates to "This isn't the item you were expecting, but as I mentioned something small about it at the bottom of my ad, tough, you are getting bad feedback if you dare pull me up on it."

I think it will lead to clearer adverts, and less retaliation for your fuckup.

standard one for this sort of thing is to put down soemthing like:

"I have refused to trade with convicted sex offenders"

that way you make him look like a cunt but they can't actually do you for it because you haven't mentioned him at all

seriously, i mean i will leave it if it will get me banned but the silly cunt deserves neg feedback for being a cunt to me for no reason

i should have just done it to him first because he had no means of pament but i have him the benefit of the doubt and he screws me

So did you specify no Paypal?

If not, then the neg he has given you is right - you won't take PP - I'm sorry, but I don't see your problem.

Let's remember what feedback is for - this now tells the next buyer of yours that you don't accept PP, which is again right - doesn't mean you are going to rip me off, but I know you don't take PP. That's all.

If you said no PP then you are right to leave him a neg. If not what are you going to write? "Bad buyer, wanted to use the staple payment of eBay, but I didn't want that?"

if you mark the item as unpaid ebay will remove the feedback the buyer left. So if a buyer decides to try one on me, i shall be getting revenge by marking as unpaid. Not only will the feedback be removed, but also they will get a strike. Providing ebay don't change this part of the system too.

your so wrong again. If he hasn't stated he will accept paypal, why is he wrong? Why should he state no paypal.

All you need to do is mark the item as unpaid, it seems that ebay then remove the feedback they left.
