hi all, just wondering where this wire goes as you see in the pic its the one beside my thumb the other wires in the pic go to the ciggie lighter, this wire is running off the small loom along with the ciggie lighter wires, and has a very small connector head.

the wire is grey in colour and i cant remember where it goes any help would be a great help.

Good luck mate..............

I posted this up about 3 years ago! When I first got my Escort!

Still have no idea what it is, I thought it MAY have something to do with the vecta alarm fitted as standard

What I would say fella is get that shitty alarm removed ASAP (Just spotted the cylinder in you're pics!) as it'll give you problems somewhere down the line!

grey with a yellow tracer are usually for interiour lighting, whether it be switches or the dash itself, power the lights up then check for power.
just looked at the pic again and actually that is for the light on the ciggy lighter surround is the bulb and holder on the outside of the barrel?

the light holder is black and sits on the outside of the lighter barrel, it just clips on so my guess it has fell off or been taken off in the past, any mondeo or escort one, etc will fit.

It isn't for the ash tray illumination is it? Can't remember if my Escos has this without checking - but the Sierra definately did and that was a grey and yellow wire seperate from the cigarette lighter.

Its part of the fcuking Vecta alarm!

WHY YOU NO WRISSEN!

I thought it was something to do with the lighter surround but thats all working fine - that picture looks lower because he's pulled it out to take the picture, otherwise it would be mounted up near the centre vents!

Its defo part of interior illumination. I use to use that coloured wire to wire in the illumination for car stereos etc so the lights on them would dip when i turned headlights on .

My money is on Cig lighter illumination also

i have a stray wire just like this as well if i remember correctly when i took out my centre console out of my ST esc cos(so no VECTA) AND ALL the lights work on the ciggy lighter/dash etc etc!!...its also the same colour AS the ciggy lighter light feed,so i was thinking its an extra feed for some extra you may want to fit later on,or maybe even a feed for the heated seat switch lights(thats if they light up?).......

Found my picture.................PLEASE NOTE - This is nowhere near the fucking ashtray!

I still beleive its something to do with the Vecta alarm, as I volt tested it as I assumed it was also for illumination but no current when lights were switched on!
