Default Heater Electrics Problem.

Hi folks, I changed the fusebox in my coss for a nearly new one (proper high spec cosworth fusebox) but my heaters no longer work.

Im getting a live feed through the fuse but im not getting one at the switch??

When i turn the dial i cant hear the fan running but im still getting hot air through the vents when im driving but this doesnt usually happen untill im sitting at about 60-70 on the motorway Anyone any ideas???

heater seems to be the first thing to fail on these boxes had this problem on a few escorts. the wire you need is red /black and fits on the top of box at left hand side multi plug to the rotary switch check for a supply there (you wont have one)

Cheers for that mate, will have a look. Forgot to mention that before i replaced the fusebox the 3 heater speeds worked in a different order,

At speed setting 1 the heaters would run at number 2 speed, At number 2 speed the heaters would run at number 1 speed, number 3 speed was ok heaters on full blast.

Would this indicate a faulty switch perhaps? as i cant see why fitting a new fusebox would cause the heaters to stop working..

heater box under bonnet has a small oblong cover size of 20 cig packet lever it off carefully and the resister is secured with two screws it has three coils and a multi plug all of which rust, melt and generally cock up. if this is damaged then your speeds will fook up. the one on my escos melted and i could smell it in the car, even the wiring had started to overheat there was a full thread on this a while a go try doing a search

Well i have now found the problem, so much for my new fusebox that was supposedly tested and in full working order Their is a dry solder on the pin that goes to the switch. Will give it a solder and see how i get on, think i might have to buy a brand new box

s/hand boxes arent worth the bother mate, new ones are around £250 though but it saves a lot of future problems as well,at least youve found the problem, just hope that there are no others like it

Cheers mate, my bloody horn doesnt work now Think its time to get a new box, though i might get someone to look at my old box and see if they can tidy it up, i already repaired a dry solder on it but bought a new one just to be sure, what a waste of time that was
