Default Front strut removal

Are any special tools required when removing front struts?

To remove the top mount is it just a case of holding the strut with a hex key and removing the nut?

Hi no special tools needed mate, fairly easy job realy.
Yeah thats all ya do with the top mount, Hardest part i found was getting the track control arm back in position.
The anti roll bar is strong as hell on 4x4 cossys anyway, i use a ratchet strap from truck to pull it back into position.
Sure there will be other veiws on this. good luck.

Just make sure you use a REALLY good allen key as these can be stuck, and snapped allen keys doing this are not uncommon.

Easy to do mate use an alan key and a swan neck spanner to undo the nut on the top of the shocker/mounting.

if you are just removing the shocker then there is no need to touch the ball joints, just undo the 19mm clamp bolt, use a wedge to spread the hub carrier a little then a big pry bar to pull it down. don't undo the top mount until you have done this though.
if you are removing the hub carrier as well I find it easier to do the above first then lift the hub off the ball joint, then u won't need a ratchet strap
