capri brakes suspension
Brakes on my capri are PANTS, it has the standard 1.6 solid disk brake setup, im looking to change to the 2.8i setup with vented disks but im totally unsure what parts I need to do the conversion. Any help is much appreciated.
if u wanna be cheap just buy some BILSTIEN front legs including disks calipers and bearings...
buy some 190lb springs and a anti-dive kit (rallydesign) tots up about 200quid (saying the bilstien with calipers disks etc are 120quid) and ur paying full postage. the handling will be brilliant, the brakes wont fade...... for about twice the distance as the standard ones...
(i say put the anti dive kit and 190lb springs in while you do the shock absorbers and brakes because they are a c**t to do the first time but once they are done you'll love it!
p.s. bilstien (blue shock absorbers) +calipers and disks come regulary on ebay if you want mk2/3 items.

oh and if thats ur car in the pic, get on ebay and get some 32mm spacers with stud extenders for the rear, (25quid) sit ur wheels right out into the rear arches and puts a lot more control onto the rear end
The 2.8 set up can be made to work very well. Replace all the brake lines and use some decent quality discs and pads and you away. I got vented cross drilled/cross grooved discs and kevlar pads from Rally Design and they worked very well indeed.
wardy- i really reccomend the anti dive kit from there, if you havent got that already... seriousley helps with the braking (keeping the arse end down as you brake) meaning u can get more force down before the car starts to become too tail happy (as they do)
The anti-dive kits are good if you want a higher ride height and softer springs, as that is what they were originally designed for.
However, with lower and stiffer springs plus polly pushes you can tighten up the front end really well and reduce weight transfer under heavy braking. Both improve the overall braking effect.
