Default how hard to get a bike licence?

i can go bikes as ive had a VFR 400 nc30 before witch i used without a licence for 4 days, years ago

& ive also raced motocross a fair few times & had about 15 of them for fun

so my mates offerd me his magazine featured yamaha r1 with loads of mods including carbon wheels, acropovic exausts, nitrous & loads more & its the only bike ive realy fell in love with, now i fancy getting a bike licence for it this summer but how hard is it to do & whats needed?

it's very easy - you just have to pass a practical and a theory test

the test will be getting more difficult in the future so bike schools are very busy at the moment

Whats needed is about Ł500 for the direct access course and a bit of common road sense and you should pass no problem. If youve had bikes before then you got the basics, so its just applying and adapting that to the road. Very different to driving a car on the road though.

I used to race motocross too and found it pretty straight forward. the theory test often gets many people though. Not the multiple choice as you just go through the book before hand, but its the hazard perception where many people struggle.

so you dont have to do a 125 test then a 400 or what ever it was, you just do one practical & ! theory & thats you?

I did my bike test after years of unlicenced riding, the test wasnt that hard really, just gotta remember to do things by the book, The theory is piss easy and took me five minits literally But Alas the hazard perception test. I failed by one point, They looked on the computer and said it is quite common for a car driver to fail first time as with experience you see hazards sooner than learners do so click the mouse when you see and its too early, Did the test again 2 weeks later and i thought when i see a hazard Ill count to 3 then click, Guess what, i passed straight through.

That was exactly the same with me mate. On the practice dvds you can get i was clicking too early before it even registers. So you get penalised for spotting the hazards too quick. I found myself naturally clicking when i first saw the hazard then doing two more clicks straight after that then it registered as full marks. Anyway i passed the hazard perception first time, so its well worth getting the pratice dvd in my opinion.

Yes the cbt is just a basic course to show you can control the bike and corner and stop properly. Just basic stuff that you cant fail unless you crash or fall off. You do go for a quick ride on the road too.

and what do you mean he's offered you it? at what cost?

not a sensible 1st road bike tho

i'll try get pictures at the weekend as he works away from home.

he's the kind of guy that everythings for sale sort of thing & has too much toys, i reckon he'd take 5k for it, its got receipts for 20k

i know its not a practical bike for 1st but im a confident kind of rider i would say not one to just jump on it & go mental flat out
