Default Anyone else regularly use the A1 between Lincoln and Pboro

I commute between Lincoln and Peterborough and the roads are just a complete and utter nightmare. What is it with all these frigging roadworks, it's not as if there's just one bad set, they are everywhere and all at the same time and going on for months!

It's really grinding me down and costing me a bloody fortune sat in the traffic for getting on for 2 hours a day each way just to do a 60 mile journey! And Mondays seem even worse (thank god I work from home most Mondays).

Anyone else noticed this ridiculous phenemenon? Why can't they do one big set of roadworks at once. Oh no, lets do 5 sets and piss everyone off as much as possible.

As you can probably tell I'm a little tense tonight.

And relax......

I might have to if it keeps like this mate. It's bloody ridiculous. Surely the point of these roads is to make it quicker, well you would think so anyway. Sorry for the moaning, but Jesus Christ!

I always try and avoid the A1 if I can - bastid of a road. I take the M1 instead and cut across rather than use it.

Yes, the Grantham bit is the worst, but today on the way home there's a new set up coming up to the Stamford roundabout, and there's loads more sets where the road narrows and you're down to 50mph between Lincoln and Peterborough. I'm from Lincoln mate, I wouldn't call Pboro posh, there's some real rough bits to it.

Trev I too would try the Sleaford route mate the road to bourne is mint and quite quick, and I understand from Bourne to Peterboghorror is quite a quick road.

Or at the very least you could cut a big section out by Going down Via Ancaster and then taking the back road to Grantham that goes past Barkstone Heath, and then at the roundabout near the Army camp you follow the road to the A1. I used to be able to make Lincoln to Grantham in about 30 mins going that way.

I'd use the A15 mate its a quick road but just watch out for speed camara vans, the plod love setting up on that road especially between Sleaford and Bourne
