Rad i got stopped in my old saff in my own street at 3am because of the exhaust... 4" mongoose with no middle box. I was only pottering about at low revs ready to put it in the garage so wasnt that loud.

I got the usual patter... where you going, where you been etc... then "do you know its illegal to modify your exaust to be louder in any way" so i just played dumb and said thats the way its meant to be and they said fair enough. Tossers.

The net is slowly moving in on people modding cars IMHO

Ultimately I suspect they want to go down the "TUV Aprroved" route with things or similar.

And to be honest, that does make sense, much as it wont please us on here!

The upside is that it should just about eradicate the poor quality crap/ineffective "tuning" gear out there

It would also stamp out 99% of the tuning we see in this country from small tuning firms.

Someone like Mark Shead at MAD for example is constantly moving his specs on, evolving bit by bit, if he had to stop and TUV approve all the parts used every step of the way, I would imagine it wouldnt be economically viable to do so.

The tuning scene as a whole would more or less just end up being a choice of 2 different tuning packages each from 2 different companies or whatever, and no other choices.

It will totally kill the individual scene we have here at the moment, shows will be lines of the same car with exactly the same tuning goodies on.

golf 1.4 - straight through - jap can

got caught doing 40mph in a 50 zone....... lol

apparently i was doing 90, in a car that on that road would struggle to do 60 (uphill).

course they had no proof, but they said it sounded like i was going like a bat out of hell. swapped to quiet one and had no issues ever again
