From: Cornwall... Aarrhh me hearties!
Escort won't start again
(1.8 Zetec, 92).
Last time I had no spark, and was solved by replacing the coil.
Been fine for a couple of weeks. Then today, the wife goes to go out, reverse a few metres, goes to move forward, and it dies, and won't restart.
Pulled No.1 plug out.. no spark. (Plenty of fuel on plug).
So pulled out CPS, bit of gunge on it, but not to bad. Cleaned and put back in.
So testing coil, got full 12v at centre connector to coil. Winding resistance..... this is where I gets confused. With voltmeter set to "20K" on the ohms bit, I'm getting a reading of 12.8-13 ish across the posts for 1 & 4 and 2 & 3. With the ohms set to "200" I get a reading of about 8 across the outer to centre pins on the connection at the front. Book says should be 0.5 ohms +/- 0.05
Anyway of testing wether ignition amp on the wing is fucked?
Any help appreciated.

Hmmm... after leaving the ignition on overnight, I charged the battery up yesterday, and last night.
Connect it back up, and for a laugh, try to start it. You guessed it.... it goes. Took about 15-30 secs cranking.
So it seems I have an intermittent connection problem.
When I unplug the MAF sensor, nothing changes running wise. Does that mean it's borked? Does that have anything to do with starting?
