Default Hydraulic clutch conversion? Hard to get into gear Cosworth

I've got an Escort Cosworth and it is really hard to get into gear. I have to push my foot as if it's going to go throught the floor before I can actually get a gear. If the car's hot from sitting in traffic etc it's even worse.

I've already replaced the clutch (from an AP to a Helix) and cable (original motorcraft), still no change. I have had it suggested that I change the quadrant but it seems to be OK,so haven't yet.

As a final idea Reyalnd do a hydralic clutch conversion for about £700.
Any suggestions before I do that?????

Cheers!

I've already replaced the cable for a ford motorcraft one. Any other thoughts? A mate said about a thrust bearing extension?
