Default Thinking of selling my escort cossie

I haven't had my escort cossie very long but recently i have been thinking of selling it,after speaking to a couple of people saying that they aren't very reliable i started to look at other cars.Im so confued on what to do i wanted a escort cosworth since i was little but i can't do with the extra exspense if its not going to be reliable. Ive been looking at Rs focus's,evo 8 fq300's and subaru sti's but still can't decide. Has anyone owned any of these cars and what there like to drive?

i would have to disagree with you there as i currently own an escort cosworth and a Subaru wrx and they are both as reliable as each other and would have to say when the scooby goes wrong its twice as much to fix. the reliability of a standard escort cosworth that has been maintained properly i feel is very good it is when you try and get 400bhp out of a standard engine and gearbox is when it all goes wrong.

Kris, as said above - if left more or less standard then there is no reason why it shouldnt be reliable if serviced and maintained regularly.

also mate, PM'd you yesterday

i strongly disagrre with the reliability thing.my saff has knocked up 150k on the original engine due to regular oil etc and hasnt let me down except for normal wearing bits.

the scoobys and evos are starting to go wrong now they are getting on a bit too.

My cossie's running around 350bhp. One of the main reasons for selling is i want to go to the nuremberg ring and are worried that the cossie wont make it? Maybe its just me being stupid.

There no less reliable or unreliable than any other 12yr old hothatch. If you have a good car to start with & look after it there is no reason to have problems. The thing you can't do is own a car like that and expect to skrimp on running / servicing & then expect it to be reliable.

Get it checked over if your concerned by someone who knows what there looking at so that you can get on and enjoy driving it.

i'd be more worried about binning it mate. mines run 350 for years and not a single whinge. just a bit of play in the turbo which is par for the course

I think if you are going to use the car hard and for a lot of track days then i would think about a second car for the track ect if its for light track use and normal road driving no problem nothing wrong with having an escos and using it hard just make sure you have deep pockets

i havent yet but someone like turbo dynamics or the like will rebuild it no probs.best to get them early before it does too much damage.then it keeps the cost down

they normally do a trip out to the ring through here.mike r is always up for it

Reliability was never an issue with mine until I started pushing a few boundaries and doing track days. I've had it 6 years now and (up to last month!!) spent less than my mate did in 3 years of owing a WRX STi Scoob.
