X Type Jag- YES or NO?
Simple question really...
I'm looking at Manual 3.0 V6 Sport can get a very very good car for 7k.
I quite fancy one, sporty enough without being stupid to insure or maintain.
Drive it every day and go anywhere- and get my BMX in the back.
Has all the toys.
For 7k I can get one with 50k on it.. less than half of the equivelant Audi.
Blah blah blah
I am interested in genuine comments and if the best you can come up with is "old man" or "expensive mondeo"
PISS OFF

Ive driven a few, didnt think much of em at all. Seems like you pay for the name and not much else, wouldnt even say its as well put together as the equivalent mondeo TBH.
Not a fan, and I like Jags on the whole.

I don't care if they are the best car in the world , they just shout beige cords and leather arm pads
there a modded one that belongs to some guy in my road, awful awful car, quad rear lamps, lots of mesh, and massive jaguar graphics up the sides. old men should NEVER be allowed to modify the looks of a car, they always fail.

There you go...
went to look at a Silver one the other day which was cool too on 18's...
I simply cant think of anything else to buy.

Edit to say- and so will I.
Not a fan of X types personally as they do just drive like mondeos [which in itself is not a bad thing
].
It's really a case of them being cheaper to purchase than other cars like the Audi mentioned above, for a reason.
S types are a bit more like the Jags of old and IMO better looking than the body kitted mondeo.

Ive driven all the models and all engine sizes and i actually really like them. I was looking at them before i bought my Lexus a couple of years ago. The 3.0 ones are quite quick actually, and id say they handle really well with the AWD. Pretty bad on fuel the 3.0, but only what you expect from a 3.0 petrol saloon. I was looking at a black 3.0 with red leather.
Theyve come down in price alot now ehich means you get a hell of alot of car for your money.
Just dont go for the 2.0 if you want reasonable performance as there REALLY under powered.

my mate had a 3.0 sport auto, silver with red leather,a very nice car.

the gearboxes are shite...a problem on the x type cars, thats why he got rid of his.
try and do a search Jake and look for them fooking up.

I really dont know what to do... normally a run about and a Cossie would do but I dont want to do that this time.
Got 8.5k to spend on somet a bit interesting..a bit sporty looking but somet I can use every day and wont do silly mpg- also gotta be manual and 80K miles max.
I've seen an S4 but its right at the top of my budget... and if it goes wrong in anyway I feel a john wayne style walk will be the order of the day- also maybe a bit much on the juice.
Looked at Saab 93 2.0t Aero... they're cool but I hate the dash.
Cupra R in that price bracket have done 80k+ or are 100's of miles away- just the standard Cupra might be an option as they're cheaper so can bank some money.
Golf GTI 1.8t- Ryans got a nice one for sale but I'm not sure I really want one (no offence)
Mondeo ST's in new shape with 6 gears are more expensve than the X type- TDCI's are nice but not exactly sporty or interesting.
BMW 3 series is a possibility.
BMW 5 series- there are no manuals around with sensible mileages- apart from Paul@NY which I missed..
So anyone got any better ideas???

I looked at the X type's before the BMW and people said they are rubbish (even though i think they look nice!!!!). Turned it away due to resale etc etc and bought a 530i sport. It is for sale at the moment for £9k but if would let it go for £8750 for a quickie sale if your interested.
