Depends what you need done I suppose. I got my block re-honed for 50 quid off a mate who works for an engineering company. New shells, rings, gaskets, seals and bolts/studs came to 81 quid. I also bought a new std cam and followers for 108 quid.

But if your block is still fresh, then you're looking at 190 with a new cam.

Well, thats assuming you can get trade rates.

i dont believe these engines ever last, its worth doing properly and having it balanced, crank ground if requiered, new oil pump, water pump etc etc, i'd imagine you dont want to put an engine in that mite not last? unless crank and everything is mint you'll have new shells etc but low oil pressure due to this

its a gamble though is what i mean, if i was selling a car then fair enough, but for my own engine i wouldnt consider it.

but if a freshen up is what your after id say £50 to hone bores, £70 rings, £125 for shells and mains (providing crank doesnt need a frind)gaskets and head bolts £60, oil pump £80 and water pump £35 if this helps?
