gearbox noise
Has anyone else had the problem, well i fitted a deisel gearbox in my fez after the standard one went bang on the motorway, i must say the deisel one has lasted but its always had this issue when in neutral it makes a noise like cogs turning put the clutch in noise goes away, at first i thought it was the clutch release bearing or summink not that i know what im talking about, the mechanic reckons i might need a new gearbox soon 1st and 2 are tight 3rd and 4th are loose 5th is fine.
i had that noise come from my standard box thought it was release bearing but changed it was the same, box got tight soon after and was really on its way out but change the bearing and see what its like but from personal experiance i heard the cogs turning it means count down on the gearboxs life !!!!

From: under the cabby... i think.
if its whining its one of your bearings gone, as said diff bearings of the end of the mainshaft bearing they can make a hell of a noise.
pull it apart and have a look.
