my power steering rack has a small leak from the rubber gaiter, it looks like its been taken off before as its secured with a cable tie, as opposed to the other side wihch is secured properly with a metal clip. Can the leak be fixed or do i have to replace the whole rack? can you buy a refurb pack sort of thing so you can take the rack off and check and replace perishible bits?

 

Easy DIY, the problem is the seals are normally damaged by either grit/contamination or by scoring on the rack surface it self where the seals go.

when we get em reconded at work we just fit new rack ends, seals and gaitors

my bmw rack had play,,, was gonna recon but was told all i needed to do as it wasnt leaking was tighten a nut at the bottom

gra i cant get the seals but we get transhock to recon our racks, theres prob one on the shelf tbh

they aint gonna be leads though, ill sort you out a price when im back at work monday
