Can you not use a magnetic screw driver thingy mate? Should be able to get one from local Halfords or Automotive specialists.

If it goes between a valve spring mate it will cause devastation(spring to bind etc, could even snap a carrier)so i would definitely get it out mate even if it does mean stripping the head !!!!!

I presume you are talking about your cossie, in which case could it have been a nut that fell down rather than a bolt

Either way i would get it out mate because the last thing you want is a bit of metal, of any size flying around by the valves when they are going up & down. It could cause some serious damage to the springs, valves and/or the head itself

I agree with FletchCossie go get a telescopic magnet and fish it out

ya still havent said if its a cossie but assiming it is.....

ya havent left the other bits in there as swell have you? if you are talking about the bits that stop the cams walking in and out i can tell you that my engine did about 5k miles without either of them on coz i didnt know there were such things but the cam wheels sort of centralise everything for you. more confidence with them in though once you know they should be there
