Default DO ERST/FRST Starter Motors Suffer from Heat issues?

Mine is the 3rd RS I have had that does not like to turn over when hot.
I assume its to do with the starter motor.
Any one else suffer from this and is there a remedy?

I have not seen the shield on 3 of my cars. Hence why I did not know about them. Would like to get the issue sorted though.

The car, trust me my 1/2 inch breaker bar has nearly sone some serious damage.
I think a heat shield will do the job just need to locate one.
Any one got a pic of one I will try and make one if not..

i had this problem years ago, i put a brand new ford, (std) starter on my car, drove 110 miles, stopped, it was dead,

left it a while,it started , as soon as i got home, i went to ford, and got a starter motor for a desiel , and its been 100% good, for a few years now, and it was a straight swap, as i moaned a bit .

knowing my luck, you will see a post tomorrow, " my car wont start" lol

the heatwrap sounds like a good idea though ,

and the hammer jim,

Yep had this prob with all CVH engined Fords I've owned

My starter likes sapping all the power off my battery at the moment which is a pain in the arse

The early Zetec starters fit CVH engines I think, anyone confirm? Might go looking in the scrappy Tuesday

How much is the genuine Ford heat shield?

i've been told to use an xr2i starter motor as these are shorter (and sit further away from the exhaust, obviously) but the heatwrap is also a good idea!

Seerhunter, my battery is a massive great thing, need it to drive the stereo! Fitting a power cap this weekend so hopefully that will stop all the power being drained by the 1100w amp and the starter when it sticks....
