It has been done but it is very easier and better to fit a ZETEC.

Easier yes but in what way is it better ive had both the 2.0 zetec and the i4 admitted in an escort but the i4 is quicker in standard form and easier to get to 170 / 175 bhp than a zetec is so tell me how the zetec is better as i'd love to know,

Also i have a zetec in my car now so its not that ive got i4 blinkers on cos i havent the zetec is a good engine but the i4 is worth the extra effort of fitting all day long

The ZETEC is lighter, a internally standard 2.0 ZETC will produce 175bhp, parts are cheaper, it is revier, easier to find, easier to fit, cheaper, more reliable need I go on?

been done a few times from what i remember but the rs2k ump is heavy so as said about a 2 litre zetec engine is not only lighter, its easier to fit and will give just as much power, or more if you turbo the 2 litre zetec

But you cant get to 175 on a standard inlet but you can on an i4 plus i4's are more power standard so why would you put a lower powered engine in???

It is not a lower powered engine.

You just need to bin the inlet which is simple!!!! Who the hell keeps their engine standard anyway? Especially when something so simple frees up so much bhp?

Of course its a fuckin lower powred engine its 136 ps so about 134 bhp where as the i4 is 150 ps 148 bhp now id say the zetec is lower powered wouldnt you???

As for binning the inlet on the zetec yes i see where your coming from but if you did that on the i4 and put that on bodies you'd be knocking on the door of 200 bhp

basicly calling everyone a cunt is going to get you no where.

you are being advised against it, can you not see that?? and the reason you are be is because 1, you obviously dont know much about cars, and 2 cos its a poor conversion.
yeah,. ok a zetec is more common than the clap, but dont that tell you something.... for what little gains your get from the rs2k engine in a fiesta its just not worth the hassle, the std rs2k lump is 135bhp, thats 2bhp more than a FRST but the FRST would leave a rs2k sat behind all day long,

its your call fella, but you have come on here and asked a question, fair enough you want to be different and i dont blaim ya, but the rs2k lump in a fez is not worth it.

if you want a challange, get a st170 lump and put it in there, thats been done before , mind you then again its a zetec and you dont want that do ya

never called any 1 a cunt mate but youve told every ony theve got clap
rs2k is 150 bhp as standard,2.0 zetec is 130 bhp as standard so i dont know where you got your figures from
i think after 20 years in the game i know a little about cars obviously a little more than you

no! dont you just love newbes that come on asking a qestion and advice then make out they know more about the people there asking advice from

ok i made a mistake and got the 2 litre zetec engine power confussed with the rsk2 engine power (135bhp to 150bhp) ok i hold my hands up to that mistake, but i dunno what you been doing for the last 20 years cos you dont know more than me other wise you wouldnt be asking this question and not taking the advice given would ya...

power to weight, work it out, zetec engine, light, rs2k engine heavy, the extra 15bhp over a zetec engine is nothing, and tbh, with 20 years in the game you should know this, as a engine wears the power drops, so go a head, put a rsk2 lump in and have it rolling roaded, it may be close to 150bhp still, but when someone in a fiesta with a bog std 2 litre zetec lump not only gets away from you at the lights and leaves you standing along the straight, just think back to the advice given here and the amount of time and money you put into it just to be dicked by someone whos not even had a 3rd of the hassle or cost you would of.

if you feel you must insult me again to try and make your self feel better feel free, i as well as others have only been trying to help but its fallen on deaf ears so in the nicest way possable, bollocks to ya

2litre Zetec wins hands down. Lighter and easier to fit so the first time you go into a corner you aren't going to understeer straight off the road. In an Escort the I4 is a good engine but it's not as revy as the Zetec and nowhere near as obtainable

i disagree.
ive had few rs2000 lumps and they are better for power imo and not all that heavier.
the weight that people go on about is more to do with the internals, they are bigger than zetec but still my old rs used to rev its tits off with a superchip, 7500rpm on the dial.
i wanted rs2000 conversion badly but went for 2.0l zetec in my mk4 as it was easier conversion because i wanted power steering.
but without power steering the main issue is just the engine mount.
rs2000 engine with chip and exhaust and filter can get 170bhp.
2.0l zetec engine with chip filter and exhaust can get 150bhp.
the rs2000 has massive ports and better inlet than zetec.

its not that much heavier otherwise the 130 zetec escort would be closer on 0-60 times to the rs 2000.
xr3i 130 - 8.9
rs2000 - 8.2
takes a lot to shed 0.7 secs.
the 2.0l zetec has 136bhp which is the same as s2 rs turbo 136bhp and
the rs turbo is alot lighter than rs2000 but the rs2000 does 0-60 in the same time as a s2!
trust me its a good engine, thats why ford moved on to it.

golly theres a lot of debating here, i know very little about either engine being only 19 years old and into fords for about 2 years , but i like people doing diffrent things, yes this conversion has been done before but not many times and im sure the engine cat be too much heavier, plus if you wanted to be really fancy cant you use the 2.3l bottom end from the galaxy? what kind of power gain would that give you? along with headwork etc?
