What car for 4k?
Right here is the run down, bonus is coming though next year (
) and I need to get myself a new car to run about in!
I'm looking at cars that,
i) Are very good MPG (need to use it day to day)
ii) Is practical where it will comfortably seat 4 people,
iii) Can do cross country blats in it for weekend trips away
iv) reasonable on the insurance (bearing in mind it will be my first car back since my ban)
v) Is nice and reliable
Any suggestions... and if anyone mentions cossie I wont be to impressed

Its boring, but I love my mondeo TDCI daily driver. Cheap to insure, good handling, very quiet and comfy and 50+ MPG. It won't break the land speed record by any stretch, but is brilliant at what I need it for.

Focus 1.8 TD with the endura based engine in for that money and that criteria. Or a higher miles passat TDi.
Or I've just taken in a late [on a PP but will come back on an N] UK spec not Import [so runs on cheaper normal unleaded] Celica GT4, yours for Ł3999 with a 3 month warranty... 240bhp.... free medallion.... that's a one off price to you!

Out of interest what would you value a 2003 52 plate 115 BHP model with ~ 90k and FSH? Am looking to trade in after xmas, and hoping for around Ł3.5 trade in value against a focus. Reasonable?

Also worth looking at the Octavia diesels as they start off around Group 5 as well

Yes, as someone else said Focus 1.8TD. I had one which I used to commute 20k+ a year in and it was totally reliable, reasonably quick, very economical and very easy to drive long distances.
