I have a stg 3 sapph and have just had to mot the old beast. It failed on emissions. They were at 12.5%, so they adjusted the screw on ecu to bring it down but i heard him say it took 2.5 turns to get it down. What will the effect of this be, will it need re setting

There is something seriously wrong if it has this much CO@idle.
You may well find it runs a whole lot better now, if a cossie needs adjusting to get through the MOT then, something is amiss as they will sail through if everything is correct, even modded ones, remembering that revs are allowed to be raised to ensure a pass on most.

It seems to run a lot better since. I had a suspicion it was running very rich, i changed cts and that made a difference aswell, when i got the car it had a map sensor fitted not sure if new or seiond hand. Just wondering if should fit a new one to be on safe side
