Default Escort mk3 st170, gsxr1000 bodies.

Hi, this is my mk3 which used to have a 1.3cvh with 4-speed box. I bought it the way it looks but with capri brookland wheels.....Fitted some RL7`s and a 1.9cvh with 40`s and 4-branch, cam, cossie calipers. And a 5-speed xr3 box.

Then i fitted the 16i decals to break the white up a bit.....

Its now lowered with rst 40mm springs and spax shocks. Been using it and bored with the power, and was thinking of up-ing the power, but not turbo power. So asked a few questions about up-grades and bought this.....

Focus st170 engine, not using the getrag box as to much bother. And should go straight in after changing the sump and flywheel. Not sure bout clearance issues with the 4-branch hitting the anti-rollbar???

Going to paint the engine bay first before the duratec goes in....and maybe a s1 or 16i antiroll bar set-up.

No, the one you've got is a Zetec engine badged as a Duratec, same with the RS focus lump.

Duratec HE seems to be the most tunable N/A wise...

Not knocking the 170 engine though as it's a great engine.

Used the 170 engine as it came up at a breakers near me at a reasonable price with loom, ecu and box/shafts. It will hopefully be a reliable 180ish bhp motor with exhaust, filter and re-map

Little up-date, due to simon having a machining problem with his head, and attending the daddy-thrash next-wk, he has borrowed my head for his escort so he can run it for the thrash. So mines on hold the now, but in no rush.
Good luck si

How it stands the now

Simon and i looked at it yesterday and reckon it needs modified, so he has taken on the job of altering the manifold. Once the engine is in, i will take measuments for si to work with and possibly change front anti-roll bar setup to s1 or 16i

stick a set of gsxr1000 bodies on it, cut the ST inlet manifold and fit them using short lenghts of silicon hose. you should make over 200bhp that way!

i'm currently building a 220bhp st170 motor to go in an xr2

Just a shame about all the white overspray on things like the steering rack. Get some matt or satin black paint and paint over the overspray.

I was thinking that myself, coz the standard inlet is tight to the bulkhead, but managed to get it to fit with some mods... Can`t you just remove the plenum chamber from the inlet at the connecting 4x rubber hoses and fit bodies straight on??? u got any pics?

yeah, was gona just turbo my zetec, but for track use it would probably be hassle, so wanted n/a engine with good bhp standard, and the st170 fits the bill...
