Default help , pooter problems ??????

every 3 or 4 days the computer goes thru the the equivelent of a womans time of the month , where it gets slower and slower , grinds to a halt . it will eventually totally fuck up and it will take me a day of constant ctrl-alt-del to get the thing to even turn on .
its started again and its taking about 2 minuts for things to work (ie clicking aol) its thrown me off the net twice in the last 15minuts and i mean totally throws me off back to my desktop picture ..
any idea's ??

i keep running norton and adaware but nothings being found . i empty cookies everyday all temp internet files and recycle bin , but it wont make any difference . is it time for a divorce or will some councelling help
