my mate's just called me, and on his 2wd saff the temperature guage stays right at the top.... he's replaced the sender and had the clocks out.... then it's disconnected it goes down but as soon as you plug it in it shoots straight to the top .... any ideas????

Most likely an earth somewhere if not the actual wiring going to the sender check that as i had the same problem on my fiesta turbo and it turned out to be sensor wiring plug wasn't in good shap
