basically if i put my foot down in 5th gear at around 40-50 the car judders really really bad like there is an earthquake in the car or the feeling of a bent driveshaft, also struggles at 35 mph as well but not as bad. anyone got any ideas at whats going on?

i know it isnt a bad driveshaft but feels like it. its a tdci sport on 26k, you can see it in my signature.

ive got an idea what it is but if ike your thoughts as well.

 

We've had a few smaller TDCi's 1.6's and 1.8's at work that have munched turbos due to split pipes. They start spluttering then after a few weeks it completely chews itself to bits.

I blew up a 1.6TDCi on the M1 and the big turbo pipe along the front of the engine (metal one) was split in half



My 2.0TDCi doesnt seem to suffer from the same problem, thank god

 

what split pipes should i look out for? the ones on the intercooler leading to the turbo?

 

On the 1.6 i blew up it went right along the front of the engine bay

A few have been replaced by Ford dealers as part of a service if they spot it, the others have just started spluttering then eventually blown up, requiring a new turbo

 

my mothers focus is an 04 plate TDCi and it started to judder, at certain points.

was traced down to a faulty enigne mount in the end....also there was a problem with a sensor (but cant remember wihich one...sorry)

 

ok mate, if you can find out which sensor that it is, it will be great. although the engine light has not come on.

was it the engine mount on the left hand side, when you are standing in from of the car its on your left.
