Well folks this is true because I went out to my car just to check before sending this on to you. How many times I could have saved myself going to the wrong side............ Bummer
DIDN'T KNOW THIS...
I have been driving for over forty years. One would think I would have noticed the little secret on my dashboard that was staring me right in the face the whole time. I didn't and I bet you probably haven't either.
Quick question. What side of your car is your petrol tank? If you are anything like me, you probably can't remember right away. My solution is to uncomfortably stick my head out the window, strain my neck and look. If you don't do this in your own car you definitely have done it in a borrowed or rental car.
Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to share with you my little secret so you will no longer look like Ace Ventura on your way to the petrol station or put your neck at risk of uncomfort or injury.
If you look at your petrol gauge, you will see a small icon of a petrol pump. The handle of the petrol pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the pump. If your tank is on the left, the handle will be on the left. If your tank is on the right, the handle will be on the right (see photo above). It is that simple!
I don't know how you feel right now but when I found out this morning I felt cheated!
Why don't the dealers share such important information with car buyers? I don't understand why this isn't in the driver's manual? I don't understand why any mechanic I have ever been to or know, has even thought of mentioning this to me? The only possible explantion can be that all these people probably don't even know!

I can't see it matters any way TBH. Most (if not all) petrol pump hoses are long enough for you to fill up the opposite side unless your complete utter mong and parked half a mile away from the pump.

Yes you are right, cars with a arrow next to the fuel pump symbol pointing to the correct side are 100% correct,so not 95% my aRSe Good tip

Most cars are narrow enough to have the filler on the far away side of the car to the pump when even using the the shortest petrol pump hose.... never understand why people wait in pointless ques to use the 'right' side....
I always just drive up to whatever one is free... I'm allergic to waiting

That is the only way to definately tell, but if you are lucky enough to have a pump symbol with the hose coming out the correct side as most cars are, then a good tip but there are the odd exceptions...I believe some people still think it is what side the fuel gauge is on your dash board, and not what side the little hose comes out of the fuel pump symbol.regards mark
