As I'm not a member of any Vaux forums I thought I'd ask you guys...
A friend of mine has a V reg Corsa, on his way to work this morning he noticed water in the footwells, both drivers and passengers side. He had lost water from the header tank aswell...
Is this the heater matrix? If so, what exactly has happened, what does this matrix do? Or could it be anything else?
Any idea on price for repair of something like this?
Any guidance appreciated...

highly likely heater matrix, or could be a split pipe. Basically engine coolant circulates through it, and the blowers blow air through it, thus providing warm air for the car when you put the blowers to hot.
For a quick fix, look behind the engine, you will see two pipes coming from the back of the engine, through the bulkhead and into the car. Remove one of these pipes from the matrix, and connect it to the other hose, thus disconnecting the matrix. Heaters won't work, but will prevent scalding hot water pissing all over ones feet!

no idea on how hard to fit, probably glovebox off, lower dash panels off etc, but a pretty straightforward job. Haynes manual will tell you all you need to know! No idea on price tho. Only way to see if it was leaking is to remove said panels to gain access to the matrix, get the engine running up to temperature, set the heater to hot and look to see where the water is leaking from. But it will be HOT HOT HOT so mind your pinkies!
