The UT version was developed by Harvey on his dyno whilst Vince was still working there. Harvey experimented with loads of different variations by swapping the compressor and turbine wheels around, before settling on the one that worked best on the engine dyno.

Accordingly, as far as I am aware, the UT version SHOULD be the same as the HG version (unless Vince didn't divulge the exact specs before he left to go to CR Engineering).

However, despite the machined housings, it still isn't perfect, as they don't make big torque figures like the T34s. Fortunately he is now experimenting with a purpose built high flow roller bearing turbo that should do everything that the T38 did PLUS make big mid-range torque.

Mike, very true, mine only made 355ft.lb on the rollers, where as you see many T34`s with 400ft.lb..

When will you know more about the new turbo??

What about the CR turbos T38 roller bearing.

Anyone with experience of this. What are the advantages over the normal T38's

This is just the same version as the HG / UT one, but with a full roller bearing core, so although no more torque as such, it should spool up fractionally better than the normal thrust bearing type (but we're only talking a few hundred rpm improvement).

The new one that I keep harping on about won't be tested until end of this week / beginning of next.
