Does anyone know if a 2.0i sapphire ghia axle beam is the same as a cosworth sapphire beam.I'm not talking trailing arms ,just the beam.I think i have a twist on the trailing arm mounts on a cossy i am repairing ,and i have a 2.0i i'm breaking?

4x4 or 2WD. if 4x4 then yes.

if 2wd, then no. the normal sierras and the 4x4 cossie use a 7" diff, and 2wd cossies use a 7.5" diff (granada scorpio beam )

 

Yes it is 2wd,looks like a need to find a beam then...............
so its the diff mounts that are different

yep, the diff mounts are further apart on the 2wd cossie because of the bigger diff.

but i understand from the cossie manual that the beam is just a standard one from a granada scorpio (not the bug eye scorpio)

 

Correct. You can use a standard Granada/Scorpio rear beam.

i have 1 sat in my shed but im along way from you
I removed it to fit one with all poly bushed and painted to find it was bolloxed That was off ebay
So replaced it for anther one again

 

what year car is it from?
most of the later dohc cars had the bigger/wider diff so they'll be no problem

 

It is a single ohc pinto g reg

 

If you repalce the Diff with the beam then there is no problem. I have a scorpio diff and beam in mine.. had to change the arms out though because they push the wheels out another inch or two on each side.

originaly I had the smaller rear end with drums. swapped that for a rear end from a wagon (lower gears, and disc brakes). now its got the scorpio rear in it. Later I plan on swapping in a cos24v rear end.

From what I know its the arms that get bent and the bushings that get damaged.

i've done loads, and loads of peole i know have dones loads of swaps as well and the granada beams complete are a direct replacement fit for the sierra

when you say "wagon" i'm assuming you mean estate?
in which case the wishbones won't fit because there is no where for the struts to go
unles you've put it into another wagon

 

Uuummm dojj good point i have a Granda Cosworth rear beam and arms on my saph cossie as it was a very mint beam Put my cossie diff and shafts ect into that and no problems there

 

unless he has an estate, i know that the rear arches on them are narrower than the normal sierra rear arches (wheels fitted to the saph, didn't fit the estate)
