second hand engines second hand cost peanuts, so dont worry about that at least.

not as if its that likely to break anyhow.

1uzfe engines can be taken to 1000bhp+ and sound awesome, esp on throttle bodies

we had a couple come through the work shop at the 200k mark and still going well,

the boot seals are prone to leaking, this just requires a new seal fitted.

I had one for a couple of months before I bought my cosworth and I'd honestly have another right now. I had a late series 2 on an M plate. The aircon display panel always seem to frost over but that can be fixed for around Ł80.

The series 1 had 15" wheels and smaller brakes so I'd go for the series 2 or the series 3 if you can afford it. The series 3 had a 5 speed box instead of the 4 speed unit fitted in the earlier models. It's also worth buying one with Lexus history if you want to sell it on easily.

Id go for the GS300 instead, and a sport if you can stretch to around a grand more.

they look a bit dated now, but they are great cars

boss had one when they were new and the only time i ever saw one in the workshop other than when it was in for a routine service was when one of the brake calipers had siezed up
