foolishly tried to adjust the guard slightly on the angle grinder without switching it off, it jumped round as i put some force on it and my finger slipped between disk and guard! not pleasant! tore right down to the bone, could actually see the bone when briefly clear of LOTS of blood

i wasnt gonna bother going A&E but my mum insisted, good job really, they xrayed it to check for bone damage, nowt serious there, also said i may had damaged nerves and tendons but movements fairly good so might have been lucky there too.

i remember when i was in training my boss was an utter cunt and told me to clean up a washer with an angle grinder and a wire wheel

I had to hold it and clean the fucker up.

The cunt was not gonna hear me say i cant do it so i did it.

I slashed my fingers to bit's doing it but his face when i handed it back was worth every bit

I had a small drill bit snap on me when i was holding something and drilled straight through my finger

i did that once with a cutting disc fitted - cut a lovely rectangle into the side of my finger nail

after coming back from a&e i had a big bandage on and had to wear a plastic bag over it in the shower - my mate dubbed me 'schlongfinger'

 

I did excatly the same with a cuttin disc sliced through my thumb & took a bit of bone off ! ! ! I was cutting through an exhaust manifold & the grinder jumped.

Had a flappy bit of skin hangin on & when you lifted it (which I did alot ) & my brother almost fainted ! Had to go lay down !

I got some blue role & insulating tape, wrapped it up & carried on ! Didn't stop bleedin for hours tho, but didn't need stiches in the end

Thing is tho, my best friend carried on cuttin & as the manifold was still in the car, he ended up going through a fuel line & the whole thing went up ! ! ! Oh me old dears drive way right in front of the house !

To say we weren't popular that day would be an understatement ! lol

normally i just patch myself up, or get my mum to sort me out and carry on again but she wouldnt have it this time and made me go A&E fuck stitching it myself!! they gave me 5 local anaesthetics!!! only felt one of the stitches

i had a good one down the lockup, cutting through the downpipe on the 3dr to remove the old engine

disc shattered and took out half my arm, still got some nice scarrs from it

i done the same bit to my finger with an angle grinder right down to the bone was fucking cool seeing my bone. it didnt bleed at all as i had fused all the skin. looks like Moses had parted it like the sea

thing is it took about 4yrs to feel 100% again whne i bent it it was tight and used to tingle/hurt

 

I think you have been very lucky The gf's dad had a disk let go and hit him in the mouth about three weeks ago .... 4.5 hours mirco surgery, a nose rebuild and over ninety external stitches (not including the ones on the inside) he is scared for life but now on the mend

its weird, you and dan mntion about disks exploding, i must have used upwards of 150 cutting disks and never had one break up

It was a stone disk that let go on him - not sure how they vary in construction to a metal grinding disk

The small piece that came out of his mouth (after two weeks and numerous x rays to check for shrapnel etc) looked very similar to a stuff they make metal disks from.

To be fair he is very upbeat about it all - the way he looks at it is if it was any higher it would have been his eyes and any lower would have been fatal

 

yeah fair play to him though!

took the dressing off last night before i went to bed and couldnt get it back on again properly! doh! a bit sore this morning but its been to the air and dried up a bit now, area above the cut is properly sore still though, hope its not infection or anything. its not too red, slightly pink but not to bad, fairly warm though.

see how it goes...
