Gym Membership - Harrassing my Fiance
I took my Fiance to her gym ( Fitness First ) in August to cancel her membership, which she could do providing she gave a months notice, the bloke at the gym made her write it out on a bit of paper , sign it then he signed it and put it into his filing trays....I watched him with my own eyes...........now, three months on she's getting harrasing letters asking for money for missed payments and letters threatening court action!!!!!
We are trying to move house too and the last thing we need is anything bad on our credit rating
I'm going to pay the manager a visit tonight and firmly explain our point of view, anyone else had similar or got any good advice?

I had a similar problem with Fitness First, whereby I signed up at the more expensive price on a 6 month deal to see if I liked it. After 3 months I changed to the year deal as I was getting on really well there, then 9 months after that lost my job and cancelled it.
They also asked me to put it in writing which I did, then a few months later rang me up to say I had missed payments. I called my local gym who said I had to go through head office, I spoke to them, who looked into it and I never heard back from them and never had another call about any missed payments.
If you have a copy of the letter with the date on, there can be no issue. I also took the persons name I handed the letter too. Also I expect she would have had to hand her membership card back in with the letter, so again they could look back to see the last time she used the gym.
Hope this helps!!
But as said your probably better off calling head office rather than your local gym as you will probably just be wasting your time going there!
Good luck

Yeah I'm thinking head office may be a better way forward, its really upsetting tho knowing our house move may be in jeopardy because of some cunt gym that she never actually used

This was one of the topics on Watchdog this week, it seems it's very common. Thankfully I've never joined a Gym because I know I'd get so bored with it so quickly it wouldn't be worth it.

Ring head office and tell them the script, they were ok with me and asked to go to the gym to drop my card off,
So dropping my card off I thought I would have a word with 'Adam' who was the guy who kept ringing me and sending the letters
"Ring me again you cunt and your kids will be missing a father"
Not heard anything since

Anyone else trying to Leave should get 2 copies of the resignation letter
signed by the meat head manager..
then if they start hassling you, wave your copy in his face and ask if he remembers that... then tell him to fukk off
