Road Rally or Tarmac Stage?
As said above find your local motorclub and see what events they take part in or organise!

join your loacl motorclub, speak to the members marshal on a few rallies, depending on what you want to do either drive or navigate, check out what class you want or can afford to be in,check out the competition and apply for a licence from the RAC buy or build a car spend the next year in finanical ruin and in the garage repairing it
but it fun I had 10 years at it ended up the top of the tree in my class

as said above, your local motor club will give you details... i believe you need to be a member of an MSA registered club to get a liscence, so its pretty much the only way!

they don't call it tarmac rallying any more, not since Motoring News
got shafted by TARMAC for using their copyrighted name.
its sealed surface now

road rallying is done at nights and is budget motorsport, tarmac rallying can cost fortunes

Used a 1600 BDA head, 84mm cozzy pistons, 63mm narrow journal crank, 5.230 rods. Final rebuild gave around the 180 BHP mark, with 117 Lb ft.

Its a small world... I gave up rallying more or less due to foot and mouth outbreak in March 2001 (2 weeks before my 8th West Cork event!) . Sold the car a year later and the new owner eventually broke it up. Engine and box went south, shell went to Yorkshire I believe...

I loved that car last time I saw a photo of it was on "Findit" for sale,it was orange I was tempted to buy it back as it was one hell of a tarmac car
I had a lot of find memories in that motor especially getting a blow job of my female naviagtor broke down mid stage

Yep I got it resprayed in orange after a "mishap" with a sign and cold tyres on airfield!

Another pic, this time winning the 1400 class on the Rali Cwm Gwendraeth at Pembrey in 2001.

Sorry for the thread hijacking!

back OTT now

Rallying is great fun and will keep you severely broke and in the workshop

You can rally on the cheap but after a while you will soon be wanting to get competitive and thats simply down to the money these days :/

I meant - if you have ever driven on one of these sealed surface events you will realise that its just a posh fancy name. The roads get cut up by the sheer grip and grunt of the 4wd machines that us 2wd cars usually end up just driving on mud and marbles So much for sealed surface

i love posh and fancy just like me sig

i don't live too far away from the welsh forests of n wales
i have been all over them many many times, but you can't beat tarmac
the cars are faster and more spectacular imo

i love road rallying too, there is somthing magic
about staying up all night freezing your bits off driving and spectating on welsh lanes.
they reckon your not supposed to use the handbrake roadrallying
yeah right
